     1. Use of the internet: to acquire information for specific purposes from reliable on-line sources.
     2.
Use of software:  to use word processing, graphics, spread sheets, PowerPoint,
Yahoo Pagebuilder
and other applications to produce reports and related materials.
     3.

          a. hardcopy-a printed copy of work used to reach a limited number of people.

          c.
Web site-  presentation becomes available to all people who have access to the internet

Project: To Build a Website

Students, with the written permission of a parent or guardian, will obtain free web space on Geocities/Yahoo. The space can be obtained at home or at school. It has been my experience that signing up for the free service is easier to do in school with the help of a teacher. However, since you must be over 18 years old to obtain free service, a student must use a parent or guardian’s birthday in order to complete the required information during the sign-up process.

Components of the Students’ Websites

Website will contain a minimum of 3 web pages.

     a. One page will be the Home page
     b. A second page will be a School Work page that contains links to examples of the student's work done in Computer class and any other class using a computer. For example: if the student types a report for English class, it would be nice to link the School Work page to that report file.
     c. The content of the third page will be up to the student's discretion but must be tasteful. (Please no pages dedicated to a Rap Star such as 50 cent.)

You can have more than three pages to your website. Three pages is the minimun but if time permits, you can add more pages.

All web pages should contain:
     a. A background
     b. Images with captions.
     c. Internal Links: All web pages must be linked to one another.
     d. External Links: All web pages must contain links to relevant website that support the content of that page. For example: The Home page could be linked to the Lincoln Middle School's website. The School Work page could be linked to Mr. Federici’s website.
     e. Text boxes: States the name of the page and the purpose of the page.

e. Informational Text boxes: For all pages other than the Home page and the School Work page, you must type or copy and paste  2 or 4 paragraphs that discribe the contents of that page. For example: if you have a Boston Red Sox page, the text box should talk about your favorite team. You could also go to the Red Sox website and copy and paste some information you find there.
     f. Bling: various add-ons that are available on Pagebuilder such as a tail on the mouse, a border patrol, animated clip art, a Guest Book and other items to personalize the website. However, keep it simple and bling can olny be placed on pages other than the Home page and the School Work page.

Please note: please make it easy for the viewer to navigate your website. In order to accomplish this, label all relevant material. For example: When making a text block to use as a link to other webpage, start by typing "Links to other pages in my website:" then list the names of the pages and link the names to the appropriate page.
