| Time: Two weeks during the course of the trimester Applied Learning Standards: (see area in red font color) The student uses technology to assist in gathering, analyzing, organizing and presenting information; that is the student demonstrates his/her: 1. Use of the internet: to acquire information for specific purposes from reliable on-line sources. 2. Use of software: to use word processing, graphics, spread sheets, PowerPoint and other applications to produce reports and related materials. 3. Presenting Work: makes the result of their work available to various audiences by use of an appropriate presenting tool such as: a. hardcopy-a printed copy of work used to reach a limited number of people. b. PowerPoint- presentation software used to reach a larger group of people. c. Web site- presentation becomes available to all people who have access to the internet Project: 1. Students will pick a topic of their choice. Have me approve the topic. Each student in the same class must choose a different topic for this project.. 2. Preparation: a. Create a folder named after your topic. Inside that folder, create an Image folder. b. Do an internet search for a reliable website that has information on that topic. c. Once the website has been found, cite the source using Easybib. Copy and paste the bibliography entry into a word document. Save the document named after your topic followed by the words "Fact Sheet.". d. On the same document, make a numbered list from the information found on the website. e. Do a Google image search for topic images. Save the images to your image folder. 3. Make a PowerPoint presentation containing the following: a. As many slides as needed to cover the basic information on your topic. There is a minimum of 20 slides. However, you can have more slides (1st slide is a title slide that contains your name. The last slide contains "The End" and the bibliography entry.) b. Background for each slide. c. Text blocks for each slide d. Graphics as needed in slides e. Animation of text blocks and graphics as needed (keep to a minimum). f. Song playing in the background as presentation is made. g. Automatically advancing from slide to slide. h. How you place the elements on the slide and your choice of colors will be part of your grade. How to Put Background music on your presentation: Click here.
